The School
Dress Code

Students are expected to be neatly dressed in accordance with the dress code specific to their particular class. In addition, the School asks students not to wear jewelry to class because it can cause injury and can be easily lost. HPSD cannot be responsible for lost items.
Hair must be neat and fixed securely off the face. Girls must wear a ballet bun if hair length permits. Please do not put large, ornate bows, headbands, or fancy barrettes in your child’s hair for class. Many of the children inevitably play with these, which is distracting for them, other students, and the instructor.
Ballet
For all ballet classes, girls must wear: pink or flesh colored tights and ballet slippers, leotard according to level:
• Creative Movement
and Pre-Ballet I - pink leotard
• Pre-Ballet
II - white leotard
• Pre-Ballet
III to Ballet III - black leotard
• Ballet
IV - burgundy leotard
• Ballet
V - royal blue leotard
• Ballet
VI - dark blue/navy leotard
Skirts or attached tutus, t-shirts, sweats, shorts, etc. are NOT to be worn in class unless the instructor gives permission. Leg warmers are permitted through Pliés on cold days. Wrap skirts are permitted for students 18 years and older.
For all ballet classes boys must wear: plain white t-shirt, black tights, dance belt, and black ballet shoes.
Non-ballet classes:
Modern
Girls must wear:
• Modern
I, Modern II and Modern III - black leotard and black
footless tights or black biker shorts, no shoes, hair in a bun
or ponytail.
• Modern
IV - solid color leotard and footless black tights.
For all modern classes boys must wear: plain white t-shirt, black dance pants, bike shorts or tights, or black unitard, no shoes.
Jazz
Girls: black leotard or sports bra (a solid color t-shirt may be worn over the leotard or sports bra), black jazz pants, black jazz or ballet shoes, hair in a bun or ponytail.
Boys: plain solid color t-shirt, black jazz pants or bike shorts, black jazz or ballet shoes.
Hip Hop
Girls: leotard, jazz pants or other comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, ballet shoes or flexible sneakers.
Boys: plain solid color t-shirt, jazz pants, or other comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, ballet shoes or flexible sneakers.
