Jazz/Hip Hop Classes
Non-ballet classes are designed to diversify the ballet dancer’s training and also offer an alternative form of dance to the non-ballet student.
HPSD offers classes in jazz/hip hop for age-appropriate groupings:
Jazz/Hip Hop I - 7+ years & up
Jazz/Hip Hop II - 10+ years & up
Class length: 1 Hour
Students learn basic techniques based on ballet and modern dance while exploring the art of body isolations. Students gain strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination. Black jazz pants/bike shorts, jazz shoes, plain colored leotard or tight fitting plain t-shirt.
Jazz/Hip Hop III - 12+ years & up
Class length: 1.5 hours
Steps are more complex. Musicality and performance skills are taught through a series of dance combinations. Dress: Black jazz pants/bike shorts, jazz shoes, plain colored leotard or tight fitting plain t-shirt.
