TNG’s mission is to prepare young dancers for a possible career in dance by creating a specialized dance program including company classes and rehearsals, having original works set on them, as well as nurturing their own creativity in dance and choreography. Dancing side by side with professional dancers from Tyego Dance Project, TNG dancers will feel inspired and challenged. Whether these young people decide to go on to have a career in dance is not as important as developing strong self-esteem and discipline, and instilling a sense of accomplishment.

The Company

Youth Company and Trainee Program

 

Tyego Next Generation (TNG) is the youth company and trainee program for Tyego Dance Project, the professional company in residence at HPSD. TNG company members will rehearse repertoire, perform, and have new works created on them by the artistic team of Tyego Dance Project. Often these young dancers will perform side by side with the professional company. They have weekly company class and rehearsals 32-36 weeks a year. Several times a year, they will have master classes with dancers and former dancers from major dance companies such as The Joffrey Ballet, Hubbard Street and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Young dancers ages 10-18 from any dance school may audition to train with TNG. Students in Ballet IV or above and who are considering a career in dance or who like to perform are encouraged to audition for the TNG Company. Younger and/or less experienced dancers will begin in the TNG Trainee Program which has separate classes and rehearsals.

Hyde Park School of Dance is the official school of the TNG company and TNG trainee program. Dancers accepted into the program are required to take a minimum number of classes at the Hyde Park School of Dance and attend weekly rehearsals for TNG.

TNG 2009 Auditions
The next audition for TNG will be in May, 2009 at the Hyde Park School of Dance. There will be a mandatory parent student meeting preceding the audition. More information will be posted on this website; please check periodically for updates.
