A Gala Fundraising Event
Honoring Founder and Artistic Director August Tye

We hope you will plan to join us as we Celebrate Dance at the Gala Benefit Performance of Level 41 on Thursday, May 29, downtown, at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts. The one-hour performance will feature a dazzling 20-year retrospective of the choreography of August Tye, the founder and artistic director of the Hyde Park School of Dance.

Performers will include:
Peter Kozak, Premier Danseur of Columbia City Ballet
Valerie Maze, Pianist with Lyric Opera of Chicago
Brett Mills, Former Principle with Eugene Ballet
Wilbur Pauley, Lyric Opera of Chicago

Also featured will be Tyego Dance Project, the School’s resident professional company; and our youth company, Tyego Next Generation.

A post-performance reception and silent auction will be held nearby at the elegant Newberry Library.

Our goal is to raise $40,000 so we can maintain our robust scholarship program, extend outreach to South Side public schools and community organizations, and continue the high-quality training and performance program that benefits each and every one of our children. Like most nonprofit educational organizations, the Hyde Park School of Dance cannot survive on tuition alone.

Why the name Level 41? In 1988, August Tye staged Level 21, her first critically acclaimed work of choreography in Chicago, for which she was awarded her first Monticello Choreographers Award. Twenty years later, August boasts a repertoire of more than 60 works of original choreography for both adults and children.

We look forward to seeing you there!
